If your audience is in India, UPI is how they pay for almost everything, and a checkout that asks for a card first loses people at the first screen. Many research and trading channels solve this with a hosted platform that takes UPI for them and keeps a share of every renewal. That works, but the share grows with you. Here is how to take UPI into your own account instead.
UPI is instant, familiar and free for the payer. A buyer taps a link, approves in their UPI app and is done. Cards still matter for some buyers, so offer both, but put UPI where people will see it first.
Price in rupees. A rupee price reads as an ordinary purchase; a dollar price reads as an international one and invites hesitation.
Razorpay's checkout offers UPI alongside cards and netbanking, and a membership bot can use your own Razorpay keys to create each checkout. The money settles to you on Razorpay's normal schedule. Nobody sits between you and your subscribers' payments.
For monthly or quarterly plans, Razorpay can renew the subscription for you on the payment methods that support it. Buyers who pay once instead get a reminder before their time ends and renew with one tap.
Hosted platforms usually charge a percentage of every payment. That is easy to accept when you have twenty subscribers and painful at two thousand, because the platform's cut rises with every member you add while its work stays the same.
A flat monthly fee with payments going to your own account does the opposite: your cost is fixed and every new subscriber is margin. Work out what you paid in commission last month and compare it to a flat plan. For most channels past a few hundred members, the difference is large.
Research channels often sell several products: options, swing trades, long-term picks, or a combo. Each can be its own plan with its own price and its own channel, and a combo plan can grant several channels at once. The buyer picks a plan, pays by UPI, and gets the links for exactly what they bought.
Discount codes carry over too, so festival offers and early-bird prices keep working.
Yes. Payments go to your account, which is the point: nobody holds your money or takes a share of it. Razorpay will ask for your business details during onboarding.
Razorpay can renew subscriptions on the methods that support recurring payments. Where a payment is one-time, the bot reminds the member before their access ends so they can renew.
Keep your registration number visible in your channel description and plan descriptions, as you already should. The bot handles payments and access; your compliance obligations stay with you.
