How can we help?

Step-by-step guides for running a paid Telegram channel or group on MemberBot — create your own membership bot, connect payments (Stripe, PayPal, crypto, M-Pesa & Telegram Stars), build subscription plans, and manage members automatically.

New here? Setting up a Telegram membership bot takes three steps: 1. create your bot with Telegram's BotFather, 2. connect a payment method and create your plans, 3. add the bot to your channel or group — it handles invites, renewals, and removals automatically. Choose which alerts you get, and where

Every business alert goes to two places: a Telegram DM from your own bot, and the bell in your dashboard (Settings > Notifications). You decide, per alert, which of those you want — or neither.

The dashboard always works. Telegram DMs only reach admins who linked their Telegram ID in My Account and pressed /start on the bot. The bell needs none of that, so if nobody on your team has linked Telegram, the dashboard is where your alerts are.

Set it up

Open Settings > Notifications and click What you get told, and where to open the panel.
For each alert, pick a setting under Telegram and under Dashboard.
Click Save preferences. It applies to the whole workspace, not just your own login.

The three settings

  • Every time — one message per event, as it happens. This is the default for everything.
  • Grouped — held back and delivered as a single summary, once an hour or once a day. Only offered on the alerts that can actually pile up.
  • Off — nothing at all on that channel.

When anything is set to Grouped, a Send grouped updates control appears so you can choose every hour or once a day. That interval covers the whole workspace.

🔔 What happened since the last update

New payment (23)
• Paid · Amount: KES 1,500 · User: Jane id5746938757 · Plan: Gold
• …and 13 more

A grouped update, instead of 23 separate messages

Why some alerts have no Grouped option

Renewal reminders sent and Memberships expired are already a single message per run that lists every member affected — never one per member. Grouping them further would only delay them, so the option isn't offered. If the list is long it is trimmed and tells you how many more there were; the count in the heading is always the true total.

Leave this one on: Paid but could not be let in fires when someone's money reached you and the bot could not add them to your channel — usually because it lost its admin rights there. It is the only way you find out before the customer complains.

Good setups

  • A few sales a week: leave everything on Every time. You want to know now.
  • Hundreds of sales a day: set New payment to Grouped on both channels. Routine sales stop burying the alerts that need you to act.
  • You live in Telegram: keep Telegram on Every time and set the dashboard to Grouped, so the bell stays a summary you skim later.
